Understand the geography first

Halkidiki is a mainland peninsula region, not an island reached by ferry. After the E75 approach through Evzoni, your onward route turns toward the area east and southeast of Thessaloniki. The address of your accommodation matters more than the broad destination name.

Kassandra and Sithonia offer different layouts for a coastal stay. Mount Athos has distinct access restrictions and arrangements; it should not be treated as another peninsula for an ordinary driving excursion. Check the appropriate official information if it is part of your plans.

Pick a base before collecting beach ideas

Choose the area around the kind of days you want: a town with evening services, a quieter coastal setting or a base for exploring nearby beaches. Then check the actual approach road, parking and distance to everyday necessities. A beautiful view is only one part of a comfortable stay.

Avoid planning to cross large parts of the region every day. A holiday based on one peninsula with a few deliberate outings can be more relaxing than continually driving between distant beaches.

Treat Thessaloniki as a choice

An overnight city stay can break the journey and add a waterfront walk or cultural visit. It also requires parking and check-in planning. If the group wants to reach a coastal base, do not add the city centre merely because it appears on the route map.

If you do stop, arrange where the car will stay before exploring. The White Tower and waterfront are a useful starting point, with the option of a short walk when a museum visit would be too much after the drive.

Arrive with a manageable last leg

The final journey may involve local roads, turns into accommodation entrances and unfamiliar parking. Save precise arrival instructions and contact the host if your estimate changes. Do not let the fact that the long motorway stage is finished reduce your attention.

If you are arriving after dark, ask about the easiest lawful approach rather than relying entirely on a navigation shortcut. Leave time for a simple meal and supplies instead of planning an ambitious first evening.

Leave room for ordinary holiday days

A successful coastal trip needs days with little driving. Alternate exploration with time near the base and review weather and local access before outings. Check official information for protected places and follow local signs.

For a first visit, choose a few meaningful stops and accept that the rest can wait. The point of the E75 journey is to reach a holiday you can enjoy, not to keep the driving schedule going indefinitely.
